Oman, Qatar issue joint statement

Muscat: A joint statement was issued between the Sultanate of Oman and the State of Qatar based on the strong brotherly relations and the solid historical ties that unite the two countries.


His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, Sultan of Oman, visited the State of Qatar on November 22 -23, in response to the kind invitation of Shaikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Emir of the State of Qatar.


His Majesty the Sultan and The Emir held extensive bilateral talks that reviewed the relations between the two countries and ways to strengthen and develop them in all fields. They included exchanging views on a number of regional and international issues. These discussions reflected the depth of bilateral relations.


The positions of the two countries are identical on regional and international issues, especially the importance of dialogue and diplomacy in addressing all issues facing the region.


At the level of bilateral relations, the two sides affirmed the strength of the political will of the leadership in the two countries to advance all aspects of cooperation, and that the historic visit of His Majesty the Sultan to the State of Qatar will open new horizons of consultation, coordination and cooperation between the two brotherly countries.


His Majesty the Sultan and The Emir lauded the distinguished relations of cooperation and partnership between the two countries in all fields and affirmed the common desire for cooperation in the field of clean energy, and joint cooperation in exchanging experiences to limit climate change.


The two sides affirmed that the real and diverse opportunities in the two countries constitute a solid basis for strengthening relations, increasing investment opportunities, establishing partnerships, and implementing value-added projects in many sectors and fields, In addition to increasing and diversifying the volume of trade exchange and enhancing the role of the private sector in order to achieve integration in the interests of the two countries.


The two countries signed an agreement on military cooperation between the government of the Sultanate of Oman and the government of the State of Qatar, an agreement on avoiding double taxation, an agreement on investment cooperation, and a cooperation agreement on investment in the Oman Shipping Company, a cooperation agreement on investment in the hospitality sector, and a memorandum of understanding in the field of labour and human resource development.


At the conclusion of the visit, Shaikh Tamim bin Hamad al Thani, Emir of the State of Qatar, expressed his appreciation and pride in this historic visit of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, who expressed his sincere thanks and appreciation for the warm reception.
