Muscat: Dr Laila Ahmed al Najjar, Minister of Social Development, affirmed that a sum of RO 11 million has been distributed to 11,000 families that suffered the direct impacts of the recent tropical condition Shaheen in the Sultanate of Oman.
The cash came from the cyclone-related emergency relief aid.
The minister made the statement during an interview on the Economic Forum Programme at the Radio Sultanate of Oman.
She explained that the relief aid is still being disbursed in some wilayats, along with other measures for addressing tenancy and inheritance issues.
Dr Laila pointed out that her ministry developed its services to society, from institutional supervisor to an active partner in development and empowerment.
The ministry’s mission is to respond to the needs of families and the neediest segments, with emphasis on training and troubleshooting through public awareness about domestic and global concerns, she said.
Dr Laila added that the ministry seeks to keep pace with the goals of Oman Vision 2040, notably the overall objective of realizing welfare for all segments of society. -- ONA
