Manama: The Sultanate of Oman on Sunday took part in the 114th meeting of the GCC Financial, Economic Cooperation Committee, held here today at the level of GCC ministers of finance and economy.
The Omani side at the meeting was headed by Sultan Salim al Habsi, Minister of Finance.
The meeting reviewed topics of the agenda, which included the recommendations of governors of monetary organisations and central banks and the proposals of heads and directors of tax administrations and the customs authority, among other issues related to the GCC common market.
Discussions covered ways of reaching decisions aimed to realize GCC economic rapprochement goals.
The ministers underscored the need to upgrade coordination among the working teams and committees responsible for expediting the implementation of decisions issued by the authorities concerned towards the accomplishment of economic integration.
The Financial and Economic Cooperation Committee and the Commercial Cooperation Committee held a joint meeting to study the progress made in trade agreements’ negotiations between GCC states and other countries and blocs.
The Omani delegation included the Ministry of Finance's Undersecretary and officials from the ministry and Directorate General of Customs, Royal Oman Police. --ONA
