Muscat: The Minister of Finance, Chairman of the Ministerial Committee to assess damages resulting from Shaheen, held a meeting with excellencies in North and South Al Batinah Governorates.

During the meeting, the members have agreed to form a joint engineering committee tasked with setting up main principles and fundamentals to re-engineer roads and underline their technical specifications that are commensurate with tropical conditions.

Engineering Services of Sultan's Armed Forces (SAF) and the Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology (MoTCIT) are parts of the newly-formed committee.

This came in view of the initiatives carried out by the government and the public, hand in hand, to mitigate and avoid damage caused by cyclones.
