Muscat: The Ministry of Labour signed a cooperation programme with Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) to offer 150 employment-linked training.
The training programme will be in the sectors of energy and minerals, as well as other related sectors. The two-year renewable training programme targets national job-seeking cadres under the supervision of specialized sectors.
The programme will sharpen skills and experiences of those job seekers in a manner that meets their professional aspirations.
The programme was signed by Dr Mahad Said BaOwain, Minister of Labour and Steve Phimister, Managing Director of PDO.
Eng Abdul Amir Abdul Hussain al Ajmi, PDO Director of External Affairs and Value Creation said that the pact includes 5 training programmes offering 150 training opportunities in private sector institutions which are contracted with PDO. He added that PDO has other on-the-job training (OJT) initiatives and the currently ongoing programme includes 100 training opportunities.
The joint team between the ministry and PDO determine the suitable training opportunities in the labour market, especially in the energy and minerals sectors, Al Ajmi stated. --ONA
