Dr Mohammed Awadh Al Hassan, Permanent Representative of the Sultanate to the United Nations (UN), met Dr Faisal Mekdad, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of Syria. During the meeting, the Syrian Minister commended the Omani "wisdom and moderate stances" towards the regional issues, noting that it is a "country worthy of respect" and that the Syrian people highly esteem the Omani people. He also referred to the landmarks he saw in the Sultanate during his visit last March, including Oman's National Museum, about which he said, "The museum reflects the ancient heritage of this authentic Arab people". The two sides also discussed bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries and reviewed investment opportunities in various fields. The meeting was held on the sidelines of the 76th session of the UN General Assembly in New York. -- ONA
