Muscat: Oman's weather office on Sunday issued an early warning on a tropical situation in the Arabian Sea expected at the end of this week.
"Specialists at the National Center for Early Warning of Multiple Hazards are following up on indicators that constitute a tropical situation in the Arabian Sea at the end of this week," said a statement from the Oman Meteorology office.
Meanwhile, Met said thunderstorms with downward wind are expected on Sunday over Al Hajar Mountains along with dust storms over some governorates of Oman.
"Clear to partly cloudy skies along the coastal areas of Dhofar governorate and adjoining mountains. Mainly clear skies over the rest of the Sultanate with chances of medium and high clouds advection.Chances of convective clouds formation and isolated rain occasionally thundershowers over Al Hajar Mountains and adjoining areas towards afternoon and evening. Chance of dust rising winds over governorates of al Buraimi, al Wusta and al Dahirah. Chances of late night to early morning low-level clouds or fog patches along the coastal areas of Arabian Sea and Oman Sea," predicted the weather office.
