Muscat: The third edition of Youth Summit 2021 began on Wednesday. The two-day online event was organized by Sultan Qaboos University's (SQU) Political Science Group, in cooperation with students of Otago University in New Zealand.
The opening ceremony set the ground principles of negotiations between the Omani and New Zealand parties.
The summit seeks to enhance cooperation between the students of the two universities and discuss some common political, economic and cultural matters to find solutions that can be applied in both countries.
The opening of the summit, sponsored by the International Institute of Protocol and Diplomacy (ISPD), was preceded by a series of virtual lectures.
During the lectures, the students were trained on the global diplomatic practices and protocols, and ways to apply them in official international conferences.
The opening of the summit was attended Her Highness Dr Mona Fahd al Said, SQU Assistant Vice-Chancellor for International Cooperation, Dr Almukhtar Saif al Abri, Dean of the College of Economics and Political Sciences, Prof. Helen Nicholson, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Otago, and Prof. Will Sweetman, Dean of the College of Social Sciences at the University of Otago. -- ONA
