Muscat: Oman Air honoured 14 top-scoring high school students for their outstanding academic performances at a ceremony held in the Oman Air Arrivals Lounge at Muscat International Airport.
The students are part of the country’s overall 2021 graduating cohort who come from a mix of private and government high schools across the nation and varied academic specialisations. This year’s overall success rate among the high school students was exceptionally high that reflects the excellent teaching standards in place throughout the country, empowering pupils to excel.
Oman Air Chief Operating Officer, Captain Nasser al Salmi, accompanied by Oman Air Senior Vice-President People Department, Hilal al Siyabi, and several senior members of the airline joined in handing out certificates and complimentary air tickets to the successful students.
In his congratulatory message to students, Captain Al Salmi remarked on the significance of the achievements made by the students during the difficult times. “Your achievements are all the more commendable considering the challenging circumstances of Covid-19 and the added pressure it places on learning. We recognise your hard work, celebrate your dedication, and encourage you to keep chasing your dreams.”
Graduating student Zamzam al Jabri from Maqniyat Primary School said, “I am happy and honoured to be recognised by Oman Air alongside other students. It was an exceptional year, we worked hard and did our best.”
Another student Maiya Hamed al Rawahi from Al Sahwa School summed up the ceremony stating, “This initiative taken by Oman Air to recognise the accomplishments of top students in Oman is highly appreciated.”
Supporting Omani students is a role Oman Air has undertaken for many years and one that the airline continues to uphold. It offers student discounts on selected destinations and a more generous extra baggage allowance for their travels. While not all students pursue a career in aviation, Oman Air has welcomed many Omani university graduates into the airline over the years where they continue to enjoy thriving careers to this day.
