The epidemiological situation in Oman has improved significantly with the report of zero Covid-19 deaths for the second time on Monday since the beginning of this month.
According to data from the Ministry of Health (MoH), there were no cases of deaths due to Covid-19 during the last 24 hours. The first zero death in the month was recorded on September 4.
While new cases registered a significant decline to reach 58, the number of new recoveries stood at 89 cases on Sunday.
“As the statistics reveal, there has been a steady improvement in Oman’s epidemiological situation thanks to vaccination and precautionary measures taken by the authorities”, said a senior official at the ministry.
The Sultanate has kept the pandemic under control, with positive cases declining sharply to 1 per cent from an earlier average of 25 per cent.
According to figures from the ministry, the total number of positive Covid-19 cases till Monday reached 303,163 and the total number of Covid-19-related deaths reached 4,089 in the Sultanate.
Oman, in the recent months, has intensified its campaign to vaccinate more and more members of the public to stop the spread of the pandemic in the country.
In an advice to citizens and residents last week, Dr Ahmed bin Mohammed al Saeedi, Minister of Health, stressed the need to abide by precautionary measures.
“Vaccination is one way of controlling the virus. Other basic measures include wearing face masks and maintaining physical distance. This protects people from complications and hospitalisation, if they happen to catch the coronavirus infection”, he said.
According to reports, 45.8 per cent of the target population already received both the doses of Covid-19 vaccine till September 12. Thus the total number of people who received stands at 1,626,851 and total doses given so far reached 4,336,872 till Sunday.
