Are you someone who procrastinates or gets overwhelmed by the big picture to the point that you aren’t able to do anything? Productivity does not have to be hard and painful work. It gets to be smart, driven, joyful and aligned. The problem a lot of us run into is that we try to overcomplicate the process. Life gets to be as simple as you want to make it.
If you are struggling with being productive remember to pause and start slowly. Remember you have got to start somewhere. If you are a dreamer with passionate and ambitious goals, I see you. Your ambition is powerful but without direction and plan, it can also hurt you. The problem with ambition is that we often feel we have constantly been going, creating, doing, making. This mindset easily leads to burnout. The best way to deal with burnout is simply not to put yourself in a situation that leads to burnout.
We struggle with productivity because we are holding onto an outdated and incorrect idea of what it means to be productive. Work on how you view productivity. Working 24 hours a day is not productive, that is how you make yourself susceptible to burnout. Being productive is about your work as well as your mental, physical, and emotional health.
If you want to be productive try breaking things down, start small, and focus on consistency. This is how you build long-term productivity. Prioritise your health, your rest, and your mindset. This is how you avoid burnout. Consistency is key when comes to productivity and the only way you can be consistent is when you feel well in your mind and in your body. Can you imagine how much progress you would make towards your goals if you felt healthy and happy at the thought of work? You no longer drag out feet or feel overwhelmed. You are ready and excited to show up because you have more energy.
Productivity is also all about taking action. You can make plans forever but the doing part is how you make progress. It’s how you move forward. It’s how you make your dreams your reality. Here are 5 steps to get you to stop making excuses and start taking meaningful, productive action.
Step 1: Write down your big dreams and desires
Step 2: Break them down into smaller goals
Step 3: Make a to-do list for each goal.
Step 4: Now, put those lists into your calendar.
Step 5: Start taking action one thing at a time.
Everything you want is possible but you’ve got to work towards it. You’ve got to do it in a way that feels fun, is filled with ease, and keeps you motivated. It won’t always be quick which is why you need to feel all of the above so that you can stay consistent.
So make up your mind, and start. Every day put yourself and your desires first and keep ongoing.
