Oman attends Paralympics opening in Tokyo

TOKYO: The Sultanate participated in the opening ceremony of the


Paralympic Games hosted by Tokyo with the participation of


4,400 athletes from 160 countries. The Games will continue until September 5.


The Sultanate delegation is headed by Dr Mansour bin Sultan Al Touqi, Chairman of the Oman Paralympic Committee.


For Oman, Mohammed bin Jamil al Mashaikhi, opens the campaign in the F32 class mace-throwing event on August 28. Al Mashaikhi will compete in shot put on August 31.


In women's section, Iman bint Tayseer al Shamsiah will take part in the shot put for the F34 class on August 31.


Taha bin Abdullah al Harassi, will try his luck in T36 category of long jump competition on August 30.


Al Harassi will compete in the 100 metres sprint qualifiers on the September 3. The final of 100m is scheduled for September 4. -- ONA
