MUSCAT: With an aim to create job opportunities in various sectors, the Ministry of Labour (MoL) has announced that professions of driving vehicles for transporting fuel, foodstuffs, agricultural items, fodder and grass will be reserved to Omanis.
According to MoL, SMEs fully owned and managed by Omani employers are entitled to have only one worker to transport agricultural materials and foodstuffs as a distributor of goods, provided the enterprise has to be a commercial entity that is registered with the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (Riyada).
A total of 18,824 job opportunities were announced in the private sector in the first half of the year.
It was a first-time that 5,583 male and female citizens were appointed in the sector. Of which, 1,718 people with a general education diploma and its equivalent, 683 with a university diploma, 1,813 university graduates, and 40 were master and PhD holders. The number of people appointed through turnover of staff (between one company and another in the sector) reached 13,241 male and female citizens.
