Muscat: The Ministry of Health represented by the Department of Non-Communicable Diseases under the Directorate General of Primary Healthcare launched a strategic educational program in Oman named NCD Academy in collaboration with Viatris (Mylan + Upjohn, a legacy division of Pfizer) and in partnership with the American College of Cardiology (ACC) along with the World Heart Federation and NCD Alliance.
The program aims to equip primary healthcare workers with comprehensive education on non-communicable disease (NCD) care as they take on a more prominent role in prevention utilizing digital platforms.
The NCD Academy application includes a number of interactive courses that have been accredited by the American College of Cardiology and include modules on the prevention of non-communicable diseases,
on those living with 19-management and prevention of diabetes, cancer and the effect of COVID non-communicable diseases. The application also includes modules on the early detection and management of
the most common mental disorders.
It should be noted that the NCD Academy is a first -of-its kind collaboration between major actors in global health. It is available to all healthcare providers in the Sultanate who are interested in obtaining the most
recent developments on the management of NCDs and mental illnesses.
