Literary group organises programme on India's 75th Independence Day

MUSCAT: The Poetry Literary Group (PLG) based in Muscat recently organised a programme on the occasion of the 75th Independence Day of India. PLG international participated in the 12-hour non-stop celebration under the theme, “Hum sab ek Hain”.


The programme was inaugurated by permanent ambassador of India to UN Indramani Pandey from his UN office in Geneva.


Munu Mahawar, Indian Ambassador to the Sultanate, conveyed greetings and felicitations to the participants of the poetry programme while presiding over the Middle East part of an event organised by PLG international.


The Global President of PLG, Tufail Ahmad, presided over a series of literary and cultural events brought by various units of PLG spread all over the world.


It began with a mushaira, Kavi Sammelan presented by PLG India which was followed by PLG southeast Asia and Australia, PLG Middle East, PLG Europe and Africa and finally PLG North America and Canada, says a release from Sherebanu Akbari, Media Manager PLG.


PLG children’s wing headed by Simmi Kumari and Dazy Ali organised a special programme for children titled 'Azad Parindey' which unified all in a national celebration.


The most interesting programme of the series was Triveni Sangam, a confluence of writing skills, singing and acting, conceived by Bipin Pandya, Vice-President of PLG social Oman. The trilogy of arts was presented by PLG member poets, writers and actors, providing an exciting journey of song, music, expression and freedom based on Bollywood tunes.


Tufail Ahmad extended warm greetings to all members of PLG International and to all the Indians living in India and abroad.


Today is the beginning of the 75th year of independence of India and fitting to the occasion this day is being celebrated in a very special way which is known as Aazadi ka Amrit Mahotsav. We at PLG felt that it’s our duty to be part of this Amrit Mahotsav and play a significant role in the related programmes. We can proudly say that PLG is presenting probably the best and most widely represented literary programme,” he said.
