MUSCAT: The Industrial Innovation Centre (IIC) strives, through the innovation programme for emerging companies, to convert innovative ideas into commercial products and to sharpen the innovative skills of Omanis and help them to start up lucrative businesses.

The IIC also supports entrepreneurs and enables them to promote their products and enables start-up businesses to penetrate the local and international markets. The centre helps small and medium enterprises to achieve good economic returns and works towards building a network of successful industrial entrepreneurs.

The IIC contributes to converting innovative ideas to actual businesses which, in turn, generate job opportunities and contribute to the strengthening of the national economy.

A number of start-up companies have succeeded in providing unique products inspired by the national heritage by upgrading local traditional crafts using wood, marble and metal to produce a wide range of products such as furniture and souvenirs, among others.

Another company works on developing fisheries products and provides training for women in an effort to upgrade this sector and take its products to international markets.

A third company is working on robotic products and artificial intelligence. The IIC’s programme for establishing innovative companies provides support to start-up companies involved in the field of technology, artificial intelligence, robotic products and innovative solutions by offering financial consultancies in order to contribute to the sustainability of innovative start-up companies.
