Oman’s swimmer, Issa al Adawi, ended his debut in the 32nd Summer Olympic Games – 2020 Tokyo with a sixth place with a time of 51.81s in the preliminary qualification of Men’s 100m freestyle competitions on Tuesday at the Tokyo Aquatics Centre. The national swimmer was assigned in heat three.
His best timing is 51.69s while Brazil's Cesar Cielo holds the world record of 46.91s which set in 2009.
For heat three, the first place went to Yemeni swimmer Mokhtar Al Yamani in a time of 50.52 while swimmer Andrew Chetcuti (MLT) finished as runner up and in a timing of 51.47. Yousef al Matroushi (UAE) came in third position and clocked 51.50s.
None of the swimmers from the heat 3 qualified to the semifinals due to the superior timings clocked in other heats 7, 8 and 9.
The semifinal round will take place on Wednesday while the final is on Thursday where the medals will be presented to the top three winners.
