Muscat: Oman national team swimmer Issa al Adawi will compete in the preliminary qualifiers for the 100-meter freestyle competition in Group 3 on Tuesday.
Since his arrival at the Olympic Village, Al Adawi has been attending daily training at the Olympic Center for water sports under the supervision of national coach Ayman al Kulaibi.
Oman's Ambassador to Japan said, "I am very proud to see Omani sports representatives competing in the most important international Olympic sporting events, and I wish them all success to and achieve good results for the Sultanate. "The Japanese-Omani Society and the Japanese-Omani Club are ready to receive the Omani delegation and the athletes and provide them with support during this great sporting event.”
He added, “Next year will be an important year, as we will celebrate 50 years of modern Omani-Japanese diplomatic relations, and the historical relations between the two countries extend for more than 400 years. We look forward to cooperation in various fields."
