MUSCAT: His Eminence Sheikh Ahmed bin Hamad al Khalili, Grand Mufti of the Sultanate, extended his greetings to Muslims across the world on the occasion of Eid Al Adha.

Speaking on Oman TV, the Grand Mufti of the Sultanate prayed to Allah Almighty to remove the affliction from all and to return this blessed occasion and similar ones, and calamity has been lifted from the face of the earth and Allah Almighty has bestowed good health upon people and guided them to the truth and the straight path.

His Eminence, the Grand Mufti of the Sultanate, explained that the times of distress see orders and directives that are different from those issued at times of prosperity. He pointed to the difficulties people are going through due to the Covid-19 pandemic, praying to Allah Almighty to remove the pandemic and to bestow wellness upon the people.

His Eminence, the Grand Mufti of the Sultanate affirmed that the people should take precautions against what might cause harm such as the gatherings and the assembly of people in one place without taking precautionary measures. He said that the situation has become serious and difficult to deal with and the cases have increased among the health workers.

Regarding the sacrifices, His Eminence affirmed that Allah Almighty did not burden the worshippers with things that are beyond their endurance, adding that Muslims are relieved from the sacrifice if the situation has tightened and it has become difficult for them to offer a sacrifice at their homes without breaking the lockdown.

His Eminence called on Muslims to refrain from the sacrifice and to mandate a charitable organization, if possible, to offer a sacrifice on their behalf in a country where there is no lockdown. In case it is difficult for them to offer a sacrifice they can give alms to the poor and needy and Allah will accept it from them, for Allah Almighty does not burden them with matters beyond their bearing.

His Eminence said that people should cooperate to avoid the risk and they should protect themselves from harms and diseases by praying and supplicating to Allah Almighty to lift the pandemic. — ONA
