HM's Saudi visit to bring GCC prosperity

When His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik visited the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia many eyes turned towards the region. This was the first official visit of His Majesty the Sultan to any foreign country since he took over the leadership of the country a year and a half ago. This visit has massive regional and international importance as well as being highly significant for the bilateral ties between the two neighbouring countries. Any move which widens the horizons of bilateral relations and economic cooperation between the two countries draws interest from everywhere domestically and internationally. This is primarily because any such step directly serves the interests of the people of the two brotherly countries.

It should not surprise anyone that the meeting between the two leaders His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik and King Salman of Saudi Arabia will bring lot of virtues for the entire region. The relations between the two counties are historic. Therefore, it is natural that when the two leaders met there is an ambition to bring more comfort and prosperity in the lives of the people of the friendly nations. Their plans will be reflected in more bilateral economic activities.

Recently, officials of the two countries have been frequently shuffling between Muscat and Riyadh with files of economic cooperation. These visits were meant for finding wider horizons for partnerships between the two brotherly nations. The people of the two countries have always lived as neighbours and always looked for areas of mutual economic and trade interests. This was the idea which was reflected in the form of the agreements signed between the two countries. Such relations always set examples for countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council as well as strengthen the region. This shows how to settle disputes, if they appear, between any of the countries in the region and take pragmatic steps for coexistence and cooperation.

The visit has not only created great interest internationally, but also helped in boosting GCC relationships which have been stagnant for many years affecting normal life, economy and investments in the region.

There are indications that the meeting of the two leaders in the region will help in finding peace in the region. This will also block chances of any future conflicts in the region. The Sultanate of Oman has always worked for harmony in the region and called for exemplary peaceful solutions to conflicts. This vision can also work in Yemen which has seen enough bloodshed and destruction.

When His Majesty the Sultan and Saudi King sat together for talks it was also meant that a new chapter of peace will begin in the region. This can be used for the economic cooperation and development of the region. Stability is the only way for sustainable development which can lead to prosperity in the region.

Of course, there are many major economic, health and geopolitical challenges before the countries in the region. The Sultanate and the Kingdom are two integral parts of the region and the steps they take together determine its future.

Lot of analysis was done and speculations made everywhere about the outcome of this highest level of meeting between the two countries, but it is the people of the region who will reap the fruits of this meeting. This is because both the Sultanate and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia are on the course of expanding infrastructure projects which will help more bilateral economic and trade activities and investments. These are the relationships which determine the future of the region.
