Pact signed to fund tech labs at Saham Vocational College

MUSCAT: The Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation signed an agreement with Oman LNG Development Foundation to fund preparing the mechanical engineering laboratories for Saham Vocational College at a total cost of RO 99,689.


The agreement was signed by Dr Rahma bint Ibrahim al Mahrouqiyah, Minister of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Innovation, and Dr Amer Nasser al Matani, CEO of the Development Foundation.


The agreement states that Oman LNG Development Foundation will fund preparing the mechanical engineering laboratories, which consist of the Fluid Mechanics laboratory, the Applied Mechanics laboratory, and the Materials Science laboratory.


Dr Rahma al Mahrouqiyah said that this agreement is part of the ministry’s plan to develop and upgrade vocational colleges to contribute to the economy in the Sultanate. This can be achieved by preparing skilled professionals and technicians for the job market. She added that the agreement is a manifestation of constructive cooperation between the ministry and the industrial sector. It also reflects one of the pillars of Oman Vision 2040 in promoting partnership and integration between different sectors, especially between the academic sector and job market.


Dr Amer al Matani affirmed the keenness of Oman LNG since its inception in serving the society and supporting it through national projects and its Development Foundation. He pointed out that the company is greatly interested in the education sector by contributing in developing methods of teaching and aligning them with requirements of the current time. -- ONA
