The authorities have categorically warned against any inter-familial gatherings at public places, including farms and others. It will amount to strict action against the offenders.
The statement came following an ROP search operation of places where people gathered illegally, and many expatriates were arrested for not following the Covid-19 norms.
"There shouldn't be gathering of any sort at any public place as a precaution against the pandemic. Those who violate will have to face legal actions," a senior official from the ROP told the Observer.
The Supreme Committee on Covid-19 has barred all sorts of events, gatherings, and holding of any get together at public places. Some people used some private farms instead of hotels, beaches and parks, and other places, to do the gatherings. On June 20, the appellate body of Covid-19 issued a total ban on such gatherings, events and get-togethers.
The set of punishments for illegal gatherings shall be arrest, fine on individuals, corporate (s), name and shame, imprisonment and deportation, as the case may be.
Legal actions would be initiated against the person(s) involved in such gatherings and will be considered as an action against the national initiatives against the pandemic.
Additionally, one should continue to take other precautions against the community spread of the virus.
"These measures include, as most of us know by now, to wear the mask properly and clean his or her hands from time to time either with soap and water or with an approved sanitiser."
Keeping social distance from one another is crucial, and one should not step out unless it's necessary because gatherings can trigger the spread.
"No one is safe until everyone is safe, and the safety is in one's own hands," he added.
