Four ways to lead more authentic life

Release the pressure that you need to be perfect before you can create an impact and start showing up as your authentic self today.


As a spiritual business coach, I work with women entrepreneurs that have or aspire to run heart-led business. A trend that seems to keep showing up is the idea that we are not ready to take action. That we need to learn more, do more, earn more, have more before we can start showing up as the person we want to be.


It can be a tricky web because we are scared to show authentically because we don’t feel safe. We are afraid of being judged and made fun of. We are scared of failing publicly. At the same time, we desire to be someone who is fearless, brave, and driven. We want to create beautiful, strong, and important change for ourselves and others.


To be the person who creates the impact you need to be comfortable being seen. This includes being seen in all different lights. The truth is the less perfect you try to be, the more authentic your energy is.


Authenticity is where the magic and impact lies. Authentic living is what draws people in. Authentic living is real. It’s attractive, alluring, magnificent, inspiring, and uplifting.


When we try to be perfect we are encouraging the mentality that perfection is attainable and necessary which is not true. Often this mentality keeps us stuck and in a place where we aren’t taking any action at all. This is a limiting belief and one that I work on with clients on a regular basis.


Authenticity is beautiful and there are ways to practise being more authentic. It can be the start of a life that feels more free, aligned, and fulfilling.


1. EXAMINE WHY YOU ARE AFRAID OF BEING SEEN


Before we can move away from a limiting belief we need to first examine what it is that we are afraid of in the first place. This is a simple, necessary, but still a hard step simply because we aren’t used to slowing down and tuning in. Find time to just sit with your breath and ask yourself what you are afraid of.


2. EXPLORE WHAT YOUR VALUES ARE


This is something that we need to check in with ourselves to know often. Ask yourself what truly matters to you. Try and let go of what you think your life is supposed to look like, what other people expect of you, what the people around you might be doing. We are all unique beings. With unique skill sets, desires, and destinies. The best way for you to embrace all of who you are is to remind yourself of what truly matters to you.


3. RECOGNISE THAT AUTHENTICITY TAKE TIMES


This is not a race. It’s a work towards a way of living that is more supportive of who we want to be. This is a process that might be scary at first. Being seen is hard at first but over time you will grow more comfortable. You will even start to have fun and enjoy it.


4. SURROUND YOURSELF WITH PEOPLE WHO INSPIRE AND SUPPORT YOU


Our support systems are so important. You don’t need people to agree with you all the time but it’s so special to have people who will simply be there for you. It’s important to build authentic relationships. The more authentic you are the more you start to claim authentic relationships.
