MUSCAT: As many as 24,664 licences were issued electronically in response to applications submitted via the Invest Easy portal and Sanad network since the launch of the automatic approvals service on April 4, 2021 through to June 22, 2021, according to Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion (MoCIIP).


The top 10 countries utilizing the new automatic service include India, Iran, Pakistan, Yemen, Syria, Bangladesh, UAE, Egypt and Iraq, besides the Sultanate.


The facility has attracted praise from investors and business persons who have welcomed the ease with which licences are automatically approved speedily and electronically – boding well for an appealing investment environment in the Sultanate.


Said bin Nasser al Maini said: “The automatic licence approval service provided by the Invest Easy portal saves both time and effort, making it one of the easiest government services launched by the Ministry in cooperation with other government entities concerned. Applicants can obtain licence approvals in less than 24 hours – a move that will encourage local and foreign investors to invest in the Sultanate.”


Suleiman bin Nasser al Siyabi said the service serves as a one-stop shop for obtaining all-in-one licences covering all permits and approvals required to set up businesses and operations in the Sultanate. He welcomed investments made in the digitalization of government services.


Azhar bin Salem al Saadi said the launch of an efficient electronic system would help enhance Oman’s image as an attractive destination for investment and commercial.


Amer bin Sulaiman al Saadi added that investors can now obtain approvals for more than 1,500 types of economic activities covering about 88 per cent of the total, encompassing agriculture, animal production, fishing, manufacturing industries, repair and installation of machinery, equipment, devices, electrical supplies, water, construction and building, in addition to the sectors of maintenance and repair of vehicles and wholesale Retail, commercial activities, transportation and warehousing activities.
