Sultanate vaccinates 535,578 against Covid-19

The total number of people vaccinated against Coronavirus in the Sultanate reached 535,578, representing 15 per cent of the total targeted groups. The National Campaign for Immunisation against Covid-19 has picked up since its launch in the country.


The total vaccinated with the first dose stood at 350,957 people, at a rate of 66 per cent. In comparison, the total vaccinated with the two doses reached 184,621 people, at a rate of 34 per cent, and the total number of doses administered stood at 720,199.


The Ministry of Health continues the vaccination campaign for those eligible for the second dose with the first dose received before 10 weeks or more. The drive for the first dose for employees of the state administrative apparatus is underway.


The drive seeks to cover the entire target population with the Covid-19 vaccine, aged 12 years and over, equivalent to 70 per cent of the population.


The drive is being implemented in stages as per the availability of the vaccines, in accordance with the national strategy for immunisation against the Covid-19 pandemic.


Vaccination centres in all governorates of the Sultanate have been witnessing a good turnout from the targets groups, reflecting the tremendous societal awareness of immunisation against Covid-19.


Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health on Wednesday reported 2,142 new cases of Covid-19 and 26 deaths.


The total number of cases registered in the Sultanate has now reached 240,708, including 2,591 deaths.


The total number of recoveries is 212,808 while the recovery rate is 88.4 per cent.


Around 181 Covid patients were admitted to hospitals across the country, taking the total number of inpatients to 1,282, including 383 in intensive care units.
