MUSCAT: The University of Technology and Applied Sciences affirmed that the establishment of a branch of the university in Musandam Governorate is a project that has economic, scientific and tourist and social dimensions beside being part of the comprehensive development and urban strategy which aims to develop the governorate in line with the Oman Vision 2040.
In a statement, the university said that the project will be executed in two phases the first of which involves the following programmes: mechanical engineering, transportation systems engineering, energy engineering, construction and building maintenance engineering, logistics services management and systems management. The second phase includes: maritime navigation, processing techniques of fisheries products and water sports management.
The project is expected to contribute to achieving balanced development between the governorates of the Sultanate as well as attract investments and develop the services and the economy in Musandam Governorate in the fields of tourism, transportation services, renewable energy and fisheries.
Additionally, the project will boost human development and generate job opportunities for the local community and provide the labour market with university graduates thus meeting the requirements of the comprehensive development strategy.
In its statement the university affirmed that the presence of such a scientific edifice acquires a great significance and will become a scientific and intellectual icon that will contribute to innovation and development in the governorate. — ONA
