MUSCAT: The pink lakes in the Wilayat of Al Jazer are among the most popular tourist attractions to visitors due to their rare colour.
They are 10 kilometres from the centre of the wilayat to the east. One is at the end of the paved road, and the other which is about 1 km north of the wilayat is the largest and most beautiful. It is surrounded by green trees which adds to its beauty.
Both the lakes are affected by the tide and fill up during ebb tides
Many tourists have visited these pink lakes in recent years, camping on the soft sands and enjoying the beautiful scenery, especially after a 10-kilometre paved road was built to facilitate access to them.
