MUSCAT: As part of the efforts undertaken by the Coast Guard Police in monitoring and protecting Oman’s coastline and preventing smuggling and infiltration operations in cooperation with the relevant authorities, the Coast Guard Police personnel in Dhofar Governorate in collaboration with the Directorate of Combating Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances, foiled an attempt to smuggle khat by four persons of an Arab nationality on board a smuggling boat off the coast of Mirbat.
In a separate case, the Coast Guard Police in Musandam Governorate seized an Asian boat loaded with diesel and arrested nine people of an Asian nationality who were on board the boat. The perpetrators attempted to smuggle the diesel out of the Sultanate.
