Almighty Allah has ordained human beings to seek a night that’s powerful than 1,000 nights and that night in the holy month of Ramadhan is the one showers blessings in abundance.

Known as ‘Laylat-ul-Qadr’ which translates into the ‘Powerful Night’ falls on one of the odd nights and is the ‘promised night’ for the believers.

They keep themselves more into supplications, prayers and other deeds such as zakat and sadaqa (two forms of supporting fellow beings) and the like as the promised night falls on one of the last 10 days of the holy month which has entered into the most important and the last phase.

It is the same night that the holy Quran was sent down to mankind. Unlike in the mosques pre-Corona period, houses are being converted into semi mosques for the whole family and stay indoors as part of ‘itikaf’ which means stay overnight inside the prayer room.

“Believers seek the ‘night of power’ or ‘the promised night’ also known as ‘the night of greatest rewards’ during the odd nights of the last ten days on the holy month’’, said Mufti Menk, who is due to speak to Oman audience today, May 5.

According to the holy Quran, Allah Almighty has said that there is a night in the odd nights of the holy month which is more powerful than 1,000 nights and it is the night when the holy Quran, the guiding book for the entire mankind, is sent down to the people.

Prophet Muhammad (May Peace Be Upon Him) has said to his followers to “Look for Laylat-ul-Qadr in the odd nights of the last ten days of Ramadhan.” (Bukhari)

Hazrat Aisha Radiallah Anha stated that as much Rasool Allah pbuh tried (Ibadat) in the last Ashra (ten days) of Ramadhan, did not try in any of the Ashra.” (Muslim)

Hazrat Aisha Radiallah Anha had asked Allah’s Messenger ‘If I find Laylat-ul-Qadr then what should I do? To this, Allah’s prophet (pbuh) said, recite this Dua. “ALLAHHUMMA INNAKA A’FUWUN TOHIBBUL AFWA FA’AFU ANNI” (Tirmidhi).

“Individually, each one should pray ‘Qiyamul Lail’ which denotes long, standing supplications which is a part of the last ten days of the holy month and get even closer to Almighty Allah’’, adds Mufti Menk.
