By Zainab Al Nasseri — MUSCAT: Dec. 26: The third edition of ‘Principles and Basics Directing the State’s Policy’ programme began on Monday. It was presided over by Yusuf bin Alawi bin Abdallah, Minister Responsible for Foreign Affairs, and attended by Shaikh Khalid bin Omar al Marhoon, Minister of Civil Service. In his opening speech, Al Marhoon emphasised the importance of the programme organised by the two ministries as part of the ‘Awareness Programmes Series’ aiming at boosting the efficiency of top administrative officials and developing their abilities. He said: “Since the beginning of Renaissance in 1970, Oman has been stepping forward as a confident state, believing that the whole world should live in peace and security. This stable concept is derived from His Majesty’s wisdom, who has chosen it as a basis for Omani policy, and is inspired from the deep-rooted historical legacy and Oman’s leading role through successive civilisations. “It is the same concept which is based on good neighbourhood, non-interference in other countries’ internal affairs, and respecting their sovereignty. The concept depends on truth and honesty, resolving conflicts peacefully and through positive dialogue, and working towards enhancing common and mutual interests with other countries.” Al Marhoon said because of His Majesty’s vision, Oman has secured a remarkable position at the regional and international level. Its efforts to consolidate global peace and security are highly appreciated by leaderships and people of different countries. “This international collective opinion has put the Sultanate on the global map as a destination to resolve conflicts,” Al Marhoon added. He lauded the efforts of Yusuf bin Alawi in helping peacefully resolve regional and international issues. The programme, which targets 45 DGs and senior officials of administrative bodies, highlights the most important principles of Omani external policy, international agreements and protocols, promising economic deals in the Sultanate and basics of developing government performance.
