By Zainab Al Nasseri — MUSCAT: April 10 - The Food and Water Security Committee at Majlis Ash’shura on Monday hosted Saif bin Amer al Shaqsi, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Housing, and experts at the ministry to discuss with them the development of Jabal Shams with the aim of finding residential, tourism and agricultural schemes in coordination with the concerned institutions. Both parties reviewed establishing stair-shaped residential units which, in addition to its artistic view, will help to improve the location. Agricultural and reserves’ territories were excluded from the proposal because of their special nature.
They also agreed that studies and planning are required as the area has a difficult geographical feature, adding that grazing is a main source of income for citizens living there. Officials from the ministry also presented visuals on planning and surveys of the mountains in Al Hamra, as well as areas in Rustaq and Ibri. The meeting was held under the chairmanship of Hilal bin Said al Yahya’ee, Head of the Committee.
