OSP celebrates 2016 wins

The Omani Society for Photography (OSP) of the Sultan Qaboos Centre for Culture and Sciences celebrated last Sunday its annual gathering in its headquarter in A’Seeb under the patronage of the Chairman of the International Federation of Photographic Art (FIAP).
The gathering was held in honour of the achievements of the society and its members. The year 2016 witnessed many achievements at the international and local levels, which helped to raise the Sultanate’s name in a number of photography activities around the world.
The most prominent achievements are winning the 38th International Youth Biennale for Printed Images, the International Cup of Photography at club level, and acquiring the gold medal in Saud Al Thani Award for Photography at the Clubs and Associations level.
In 2016, the members of the association received 565 individual awards, including 120 gold medals, 49 silver medals, 50 bronze medals, 333 honourary medals, and 13 awards for the best Omani photographers at the level of international and local competitions.
On the sidelines of the ceremony, an exhibition containing several works of the members was opened, and a technical presentation was presented summarising all the activities of the society during the year.
The Society has also launched its annual report for the year 2016, which included details of the activities, the educational lectures, the personal exhibitions both local and international including the competitions and training courses held.
At the end of the ceremony, winners were handed their medals and titles were designated by the the International Federation of Photographic Art (FIAP).
