University of Buraimi honours its outstanding student activities

BURAIMI: On the basis of the importance of honouring outstanding students, and in the framework of follow-up, preparation and improvement of all student talents, the Student Affairs Department at University of Buraimi, organised a festive celebration to honour the students in the academic year 2016-2017. The ceremony was attended by Prof Nabil El Kadhi, Acting Vice Chancellor of UoB, who addressed the students and appreciated them for their outstanding performance in the local and regional fora. Mahmoud bin Mohammed al Farsi, Acting Deputy Vice Chancellor for Financial and Administrative Affairs and Director of Student Affairs, said that this award is normally given to those students who have made distinctions in a number of activities during the current semester. Some of them achieved in competitions that were held in the national level, and some of them represented UoB outside the Sultanate. A video documenting student activities showing remarkable and outstanding performance during the academic year 2016-2017 was presented. The students actively contributed to the events, confirming the richness of the university community and enriching it with promising talents from different fields. This award ceremony was a tribute to these students. The Student Advisory Council and various student clubs such as Zawaya Media club, Self-Awareness, Mux Cultural, Social Association and Agricultural Group were honoured. The clubs had an effective impact on sustaining the motivation of the students, and allowed the students to remain active in various activities organised by the University, such as the successful celebration of 46th National Day. Among those who were honoured in the ceremony were: the students representing the University in the competition held in Qatar and who placed third in the completion in Oman; the students who bagged the championship in the Charisma Contest among the higher education institutions in Oman; the College of Health Sciences students who won in the Hand Hygiene National Competition, as well as the students who won in the most beautiful apartment and the most presentable dish competitions; the table tennis winners, the winners of the six stars competition including the winning teams, the best goalkeeper, the best player and the best goalie.
