SQU all set to welcome 16,000 students

MUSCAT: The study programmes at Sultan Qaboos University (SQU) for the academic year 2017-18 will begin today. The university will receive more than 16,000 undergraduates at SQU’s colleges on the day, including College of Medicine and Health Sciences, College of Agriculture and Marine Sciences, College of Education, College of Commerce and Political Sciences, College of Sciences, College of Engineering and College of Law. Dr Hussain bin Ali al Kharousi, Dean of Admissions and Registration, said all the necessary steps have been taken to regularise the educational process as the first academic semester 2017 is commencing. These steps include announcement of general timetable, registration for courses, important dates in the academic calendar as well as coordination and follow-up with colleges, Centre for Preparatory Studies and other units at the university to check on the readiness of classrooms. “The addition and omission process will be on until Thursday. The cases of conflict will be resolved in coordination with the deanship and colleges,” he said.
