Oman Oil Company's wholly owned subsidiary, Oman Oil Company for Exploration and Production (OOCEP) and Oman Gas Company (OGC) on Monday inaugurated the facilities of Musandam Gas Plant and Musandam Power Plant under the auspices of Sayyid Mansoor bin Majid bin Taimur al Said.
The plant, built at a cost of RO346 million treats oil and gas produced from offshore Bukha and Gharb Bukha oil fields in the west coast of Musandam.
The project comes in implementation of the government’s strategic plan to supply gas for power generation and provide the infrastructure for the future industries in the governorate. It will also stimulate oil exploration players in the concession area in the Block 40/17/8. The gas plant’s capacity is 45 million cubic feet of gas and 20,000 barrels of condensates per day.
The power plant, which was built at a cost of RO93.6 million, is a joint venture between Oman Oil Company, the government’s investment arm in the energy related sectors, holding a 70 per cent stake, and LG International, with the balance 30 per cent stake.
