Oman lose 1-0 to UAE in Gulf Cup opener

From Kuwait Oman lost 1-0 to UAE in their first round match of the 23rd edition of the Gulf Cup at Jaber International Stadium on December 22. Despite, Oman's spirited show, UAE utilized a penalty in the 26th minute, converted by Ali Mabkhout. PimVerbeek's men missed a number of golden chances in the second half to never found that elusive goal. UAE have three points to top the Group A, while Oman will have to wait until Monday when they face the hosts Kuwait.
