After a break of two months the local football competition come back in action through His Majesty’s Cup last 16 as all the fixtures will be played on February 2 and 3. The fixtures are played as a single leg knock-out matches so all teams will fight to reach the quarterfinal. On Friday, Al Wusta face Sur, Al Bashayer play against Samayil, Al Nasr host Al Rustaq and Sohar take on Al Mudhaibi. Saturdays action will witness Al Shabab take on Nizwa, Bidya meet Ahli Sidab, Saham play Al Seeb while Al Suwaiq clash with Oman Club. At Al Seeb Stadium (16:55), Sur look favourites to overcome Al Wusta according to the recent performances by both the clubs in the First Division League. Sur did very well in the transfer window and they compete in their league to qualify for the Omantel League. Al Bashayer, who had shocked Muscat 3-0 in the last 32, will hope to continue the good show when they face Samayil at Ibri Stadium (17:05). Al Nasr club are set to take on Al Rustaq in a game that might look on papers a bit easy for Omantel side Al Nasr. Despite the fact that Al Rustaq were relegated to the First Division last season, they still have a good number of players who can annoy the Salalah giants. It kicks off (17:25) at Salalah Stadium. The main action of Friday will be at Sohar stadium (20:15) as both Omantel sides Sohar and Al Mudhaibi face off. Both of the teams have prepared very well for the tie especially through the winter transfer window. Sohar will try to utilise their home conditions to go past Al Mudhaibi, who have been showing a great season in their first participation in Omantel League with local manager Anwar al Habsi.
