DUBAI: The Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (PEIE) began its participation at the 23rd edition of one of the world’s largest annual food and hospitality events — Gulfood 2018, in Dubai. The exhibition, which is being held during the period from February 18 to 22 at Dubai World Trade Centre, is featuring 120 national pavilions, which comprise more than 5,000 local, regional and international companies. Heads of states, ministers, government officials and representatives of trade associations are expected to visit the exhibition this year.
Omar bin Mohamed Muqaibal, Director-General of Marketing and Media at PEIE, emphasised on the importance of the sixth consecutive participation of PEIE in Gulfood exhibition. “This participation comes in line with the global trend to focus on various food sectors.
With an area of one million square feet of exhibition space, the event embraces various fields including food security, halal world food, and global future of food, among other areas.
Hence, it is significant for the Omani companies to be present in such events to explore the new trends and available opportunities in the food sector,” Muqaibal pointed out.
He added, “Through the previous participations of PEIE in Gulfood, it has been noted that the exhibition presents an ultimate platform to attract new investments in the food sector and localise them in the industrial estates pertaining to PEIE.
The event also offers the opportunity to highlight the recently announced new incentives by PEIE, which are offered to the investors in order to boost the investment scene in the Sultanate”. This year, a number of Omani companies and factories representing the food industry are taking part in the event.
The participating companies have the opportunity to highlight their products, as well as get familiarised with the products offered by the international companies and the latest global trends.
The exhibition also offers the companies with the opportunity to highlight the characteristics and quality of Omani products.
This will eventually play a significant role in achieving the objectives of Origin Oman campaign that aims at promoting and marketing Omani products and thus finding new markets for these products at local, regional and international levels.
The five-day exhibition presents an apt platform to learn about strategies that affect the food industry; study concepts and innovations that determine market leaders; stay up-to-date with latest trends in consumer behaviour; learn about the challenges prevalent in the global food industry and how to overcome them; as well as unveiling new business opportunities. — ONA
