Head of UK cyber security agency addresses Oman academy

Business Reporter Muscat, Jan 16 The Advanced Cybersecurity Academy (ACA) hosted a seminar focusing on the importance of cyber security in education and training to help develop cyber security capabilities. The event featured a presentation by Ciaran Martin, CEO of the National Cyber Security Centre in UK. Representatives from various entities, in addition to academics and students of cyber security, attended the seminar. The Advanced Cybersecurity Academy aims to train and qualify national cadres with high professional skills with accordance to the recognised professional standards at the level of the global training institutions and the cybersecurity organisations, as well as providing support to various governmental departments as well as private sector, with specialised skills and expertise to deal with any cyber-attacks or electronic piracy and to reduce the risks of electronic threats. The Academy will be equipped with the most advanced means and techniques to provide training services and to equip it with professional expertise and advanced training programmes from world leaders in cyber security domain. At the seminar, Ciaran Martin highlighted the UK experience to enhance cyber education and skills to create a cyber-secure society and presented the fundamentals of a capable education and skills system. On the margins of the seminar, Martin visited the academy building, located within the Higher College of Technology, Muscat and discussed the cooperation plan between the two sides.
