Verbeek thanks OFA, Omani fans

MUSCAT, FEB 6 - Pim Verbeek had a memorable two-year-stint as the head coach of the Red Warriors. Prior heading off to his native Netherlands, Pim Verbeek send a thanking message to all the football lovers in the Sultanate. “Two years ago, Shaikh Salim al Wahaibi, Chiarman of OFA, asked me to come to Oman to build up a new team. Together with my staff we had a fantastic journey with winning the Gulf Cup and making history at the Asian Cup. As a coach I am used to take decisions, but the decision to leave Oman was a very difficult one. I have been working abroad for the last 20 years. After such long experience, this is a good moment to finish my coaching career and get back home.” The Dutchman said the achievements by the team were the result of collective hard work. “The Oman team’s success story was the result of a teamwork. I would like to thank the board of OFA for their great support during my time with national team. Of course we should never forget that everything we achieved have never been possible without my staff who have been so important to me and to the players.” “Last but not the least, I would like to thank our fantastic fans who have made the tournaments and my years in Oman unforgettable,” Verbeek concluded. Meanwhile, Oman fans appreciated the work of Verbeek. Omani fans through Twitter expressed their recognition to the Dutchman as he brought up Oman to the top level teams. Abdullah al Qarqashi in his tweet said that Oman national team missed the experienced coach as he developed well the technical aspects of the team to new level. Al Maharbi tweeted that Verbeek was the second best coach for the Sultanate team after Milan Machalla, the former national team coach. Abdullah al Nazwani said in his tweet that the Dutchman was the best man to lead the Sultanate team to the upcoming tournaments. However, we wished all the best for the OFA to appoint the right coach soon.
