Bausher repeat 6-0 thrashing of Qurayat
Ahli Sidab hit 10 past hapless Nizwa
MUSCAT, FEB 10
Al Nasr hammered Al Ittihad 6-0 to register their fifth straight win in the His Majesty’s Cup hockey championship preliminary round in Salalah on Wednesday.
At the Al Saada Sports Complex, star player Basim Khater put the defending champions ahead in the fourth minute from a penalty corner. Fuad Ali made it 2-0 with a field goal in the 12th minute.
In the second quarter, Anwar Saad struck with a field goal in the 23rd minute. Two minutes later, Mahmoud Ashroor made it 4-0 with a brilliant strike.
Two minutes before the break, Huwaid Jamal found the target as Al Nasr led 5-0.
Al Ittihad strengthened their defence in the third and fourth quarters but could not stop Qasim Moosa net the sixth goal for the Group 2 toppers in the 39th minute. Al Nasr have 15 points and had ensured the final round with the unassailable points lead.
BRILLIANT BAUSHER
In Group 4, Bausher repeated their 6-0 win against Qurayat in the second-round match to top the table late on Tuesday.
For Bausher, Muhanna al Hasani hit a brace, which earned him the best player award in the match.
Khaled al Battashi, Adnan al Hasani, Nawaf al Hasani and Saleh al Wahaibi scored one each.
At the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex, Al Bashayer posted a thrilling 4-3 win over Muscat on Tuesday night.
In an exciting match, Muscat advanced with the goals of Azad al Fazari and Adel Mubarak in the first and second quarters, before Al Bashayer turned the tables and scored four consecutive goals through Islam Mustafa, Laith al Maashari, Bassam al Owaisi and Faris al Amiri, before Adel Mubarak reduced deficit for Muscat.
Mohamed Salem al Zadjali from Muscat club won the best player award in the match.
In Group 1, Majees thrashed Al Salam 4-1at Sohar Sports Complex.
Al Salam struck the first goal in the 26th minute. Majees equalised in the 36th minute through Muhammad Adel, who added the second and third goals in 52nd and 57th minutes. Osama Khamis completed the scoring for Majees in the 58th minute.
DHOFAR DOMINATE
On Monday, Dhofar blanked Al Ittihad 3-0 in Group 2, while Ahli Sadab pummelled Nizwa 10-0 in Group 3.
At Al Saada Sports Complex, Shafi Taleb put Dhofar ahead in the 15th minute from a penalty corner. The second goal was scored by Ahmed Akaak in the 21st minute. Munir Awad found the target in the 39th minute to make it 3-0 for Dhofar.
At the end of the match, Tariq al Kathiri, General Supervisor of the Salalah Tourism Festival, presented the best player award to Talal Mohammed of Dhofar.
AHLI SIDAB SUPREME
At the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex, Ahli Sidab were way ahead in comparison to Nizwa in terms of scoring skills.
Ashraf al Nasiri’s led the scoring with four goals. Ahmed Nabil scored twice, while Ahmed Salem, Sanad Salem, Khaled Juma and Mohan found target once each.
After the match, Fada Muhammad Ali handed over the best player award to Ahli Sidab’s Ashraf al Nassiri.
