The visit of King Hamad bin Isa al Khalifa, King of the Kingdom of Bahrain, to the Sultanate of Oman at the invitation of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik on Tuesday is a continuation of the approach of brotherhood and solidarity between the two countries that have long civilisations and maritime traditions.
Speaking to the Observer, Rudaina bint Amer al Hajriyah, Chairwoman of the Board of Directors of the Omani-Bahraini Friendship Association, said that the visit is an extension of the strong, solid, and deep-rooted relations that extend deep into history.
'The bilateral relations of the Sultanate of Oman and the Kingdom of Bahrain are among the oldest relations that link two countries, since the civilisations of Majan and Dilmun, and are based on a set of foundations and pillars,' said Rudaina.
According to her, the foremost of which is the ties of kinship, brotherhood, and love that bind the two brotherly peoples, and derive their strength and continuity from the constants and common denominators that unite the two countries and the two brotherly peoples.
'The bilateral relations are the extrapolation of the keenness of the two countries' monarchs to develop areas of cooperation between the two countries in all fields.' The Omani-Bahraini relations have witnessed successive developments and qualitative leaps at all levels, reaching the peak of their prosperity at the present time, making them a model to be emulated for international relations, and a unique example of what relations between countries should be.
Al Hajri said that the Royal visit comes in a related context of communication between the leaders of the two brotherly countries, and embodies the keenness to continue the existing cooperation between the two countries in various fields including economic, scientific, cultural, health and other fields, and to push it to broader horizons for the benefit of the people of the two countries.
Rudaina noted that the existing relations between the Sultanate of Oman and the Kingdom of Bahrain have been crowned with many successes and that the recent announcement of the Omani-Bahraini Friendship Society came to form a new bridge of love and brotherhood, reflecting the level of cohesion and strong relations between the two brotherly peoples.
'The Society will play a role in strengthening bilateral relations through youth, sports, cultural, social, and economic programmes, and seek to increase trade exchange and enhance investment opportunities, tourism, and other areas that support relations and enhance joint cooperation.'
This is part of the Society’s objectives, which revolve around developing and strengthening relations between the two countries in the cultural, social, economic, scientific, youth and sports aspects, through organising social meetings, seminars, lectures, art and science exhibitions, publishing in newspapers and magazines, advertisements in radio and television programs, organising press conferences, and coordinating with the relevant authorities in both countries, issuing periodicals and other publications.
