ITEC Programme strengthens India-Oman ties

MUSCAT: In a significant stride towards bolstering bilateral relations and fostering mutual growth, India’s Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) programme awarded training slots to 125 Omani professionals in 2024. A special event held in Muscat celebrated this milestone, underscoring the importance of capacity-building initiatives in strengthening ties between the two nations.

The Indian Ambassador to Oman highlighted the programme's pivotal role in professional and economic collaboration, alongside dignitaries such as Shaikh Faisal al Rawas, Chairman of the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI). His presence underscored the programme’s alignment with Oman Vision 2040.

Established in 1964, the ITEC programme serves as a cornerstone of India’s development assistance strategy. Offering over 14,000 scholarships annually in diverse fields — agriculture, IT, management, SMEs, and biotechnology — it benefits professionals from partner countries globally.

The Indian Ambassador described the programme as “a celebration of one of the most important bilateral relationships,” emphasising capacity building, development cooperation, and mutual growth. Drawing inspiration from India’s ancient philosophy that views the world as one family, he highlighted the collaborative spirit of the initiative, fostering an enriching exchange of knowledge and experiences.

With its emphasis on shared learning and professional networking, the ITEC programme continues to strengthen India-Oman relations, empowering professionals and bridging communities for a brighter, united future.
