WTT Contender Muscat 2025 action begins today

The main draw competitions will begin on Tuesday at the WTT Contender Muscat 2025, as top-ranking players take to the tables accompanied by some of the most exciting breakout talents of the WTT Series. World No. 3 Japan’s Tomokazu Harimoto will take on Iran’s Navid Shamas in the opening match for the last 32 round, while Simon Gauzy from France will play against Alvaro Robles from Spain in another tight encounter. Nigerian Quadari Aruna will meet Yan-Cheng Huang from Chinese Taipei.
Indian paddler Harmeet Desai will seek a slot in the last 16 round when he faces Wong Chun Ting from Hong Kong in a strong match. This round will also feature other top seeds, including Germany’s Dimitrij Ovtcharov, Nigerian Quadari Aruna, and China’s Xiang Peng. Top women seeds include Japan’s Satsuki Odo, Brazil’s Bruna Takahashi, and France’s Prithika Pavade. In the women’s doubles, Czech pair Sabina and Izabela defeated Hong Kong’s Su Tsz and Doo Hoi 3-1 to secure a slot in the main draw. France's Charlotte and Leana beat Sarvinoz (Kosovo) and Andrea (Czech) 3-0.
Chinese paddlers Shi Hunyao and Wang Xiaotong beat Katarzyna and Zuzanna (Poland) 3-0, while Hong Kong's Kong Tsz Lam and Lee Hoi Man blanked Sweden's Filippa Bergand and Christina 3-1. Hong Kong paddler Kua Min Ho said that his participation at the WTT Contender Muscat is a significant opportunity to enhance his skills and compete against top players from around the globe. “These events play a pivotal role in nurturing young players and opening new horizons for them. Participating in this championship represents a great challenge and a great opportunity to broaden my experience in the game by competing with outstanding players from different countries. My goal is not only to achieve good results but also to benefit from the overall experience, identify my strengths, and work on improving my weaknesses.” On the other hand, Chinese player Xu Su Yu said her preparation for this championship has been intense. “I am continuously working on developing my technical and physical skills. This tournament presents unique challenges, and I see it as a fantastic opportunity to measure the progress I have made and assess my ability to face players with diverse experiences and playing styles.”
