Bahla sports march showcases cultural riches

BAHLA: The Wilayat of Bahla in the Al Dakhiliyah Governorate hosted an engaging sports march to introduce its rich tourist, natural, and heritage landmarks. Organised by the Office of the Wali of Bahla in cooperation with the Bahla Charity Team, the event aimed to promote domestic tourism, encourage physical activity, and enhance the cultural identity of the wilayat.

The march utilised the cooler winter weather as an opportunity for participants to explore the wilayat’s attractions, including historical and natural sites. The initiative brought together the Endurance March Team of Bahla Sports Club and the Bahla Equestrian Association, fostering a strong sense of community spirit.

Sultan bin Nasser al Nabhani, Head of the Bahla Charity Team, revealed that the first edition of the march witnessed remarkable participation, drawing nearly 8,000 young individuals and 200 women from various governorates of Oman.

The journey began at the historic Bahla Fort, traversing notable landmarks such as Bab Al Kharzban, Ibn Baraka Mosque, Ard Al Madana, Jabal Al Mahatta, and the Bahla popular market, before concluding in Al Alaya.

The march showcased Bahla's remarkable historical treasures, including its ancient forts, castles, and scenic landscapes. Participants were also reminded of the health benefits of walking, highlighting its importance for physical well-being and community engagement. — ONA
