Oman is set to participate for the first time in the esteemed Geneva International Exhibition of Inventions, which will be held in Geneva from April 9-13. This marks a significant milestone for the Sultanate of Oman as it joins a global platform that brings together over 1,000 innovations from around the world. The Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation has selected four exceptional projects to represent Oman at the exhibition, following a meticulous evaluation process held at the Muscat Innovation Complex. The projects were chosen from a pool of 36 submissions, all of which underwent careful scrutiny by a panel of experts.

The four projects selected to represent Oman at this prestigious event are:

Car Air Conditioner Cleaning and Sterilisation System by Mahmoud bin Mohammed al Hinai

Language Project by Lian bint Saeed al Rahbiyah

Mobile Application: Scientific Traveller by Dr Huda bint Ali al Hosniyah

Etienne Project by Muayyad bin Sameer al Balushi

These projects, which span a variety of fields including technology, health, and environmental solutions, highlight the creativity and innovation present within Oman’s youth. The aim of Oman’s participation is to provide a platform for its innovators to connect with investors, entrepreneurs, and experts from across the globe. This participation aligns with Oman’s long-term goals of fostering an innovation-driven economy and contributing to the global scientific and technological community.

Khadija bint Abdullah al Harrasiyah, Research and Innovation Programmes Specialist at the Ministry, emphasised the significance of the exhibition in boosting Oman’s profile on the world stage. 'The Geneva Exhibition is one of the most important global events for inventors, providing them with the opportunity to interact with investors and innovators from around the world. It is an ideal platform for our innovators to showcase their talents and projects internationally.'

The exhibition covers a wide range of sectors, including engineering, electronics, health and energy, and provides a unique opportunity for inventors to exchange ideas, form collaborations, and seek investment for their innovations. The event is expected to attract a specialised audience of experts, potential investors, and global leaders in innovation, further enhancing Oman’s presence in international innovation forums.

Dr Saif bin Abdullah al Haddabi, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation for Research and Innovation, praised the efforts of the selected innovators, stating, “This participation represents a new beginning for Omani innovators on the global stage. We are confident that these projects will contribute significantly to Oman Vision 2040 of fostering innovation as a key driver of economic development.”

Oman’s involvement in the Geneva International Exhibition of Inventions is part of the Sultanate of Oman’s broader strategy to build a vibrant innovation ecosystem. This initiative is in line with Oman Vision 2040, which emphasises the importance of innovation, research and technology in driving sustainable development and economic growth.

Through this participation, Oman aims to strengthen its position as a regional hub for innovation and entrepreneurship, paving the way for future collaborations and advancements in various sectors.
