Oman, KSA discuss economic cooperation

Muscat: Sheikh Dr Ali bin Masoud al Sunaidi, Chairman of the Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones, received Engineer Khalil bin Salim al Saleh, Deputy Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources for Industrial Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, at the Authority’s headquarters in Muscat Governorate.

During the meeting, opportunities for economic cooperation in the fields of special economic, free, and industrial zones between the two brotherly countries were reviewed, and ways to maximize the benefits from production chains and raw materials in factories located in the special economic zones and free zones of both countries were discussed.

The implementation steps for the Integrated Economic Zone project in Al-Dhahira and the dry port were also reviewed. The tender for the infrastructure of the project has been issued, and 12 consortiums made up of Omani and Saudi companies have purchased the tender documents. The meeting also discussed ways to facilitate the movement of industrial products between the two countries using the Empty Quarter border crossing.

The meeting was attended by Ibrahim bin Saad bin Bishan, the Saudi Ambassador to the Sultanate of Oman, and a number of officials from both sides.
