Muscat: The Gulf Technical Committee for Standards and Metrology convened in Muscat yesterday to review 15 key projects set for implementation across the GCC region.
Hosted by the Directorate General for Standards and Metrology at the Ministry of Commerce, Industry, and Investment Promotion, the meeting was attended by representatives from all six Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states.
According to an ONA report, the projects under review span various sectors, including agricultural irrigation systems, solar energy technologies, and petroleum measurement standards. Once approved, these initiatives will help integrate regional standards and promote greater consistency across the GCC countries.
Fayza bint Hamad al Musharifi, Director of the National Center for Measurement and Calibration and Chairwoman of the Gulf Technical Committee for Standards, emphasized Oman’s pivotal role in aligning Gulf standards with international and local benchmarks. She noted that these efforts are essential for promoting regional trade and fostering sustainable economic development through knowledge sharing and the adoption of best practices.
