MUSCAT: The National Committee for the Welfare of the Disabled People on Monday held a meeting under the auspices of Dr Laila bint Ahmed al Najjar, Minister of Social Development, Chairperson of the Committee.

The meeting discussed the progress made in initiatives undertaken as part of the 'Laboratory for the Development of Services and Programmes for Persons with Disabilities'.

The meeting looked into the outcome of 33 initiatives implemented by the Committee in five categories of services for the disabled, namely the 'Quality of healthy life', 'Rehabilitation and educational life', 'Working life and income', 'Family, society and the State' and 'General enablers'.

The meeting touched on the second forum for persons with disabilities in Al Batinah North Governorate, scheduled to be implemented in 2025.

It also discussed training programmes for business owners and workers in the fields of employment. The meeting sought ways to integrate persons with disabilities in the workplace. It also reviewed the services provided to persons with disabilities and other topics of the agenda.
