KHASAB: On December 20, the Musandam Winter Road Race, organised by the Oman Athletics Association in collaboration with the Governor’s Office, showcased the governorate’s blend of sports and tourism as part of the Winter Musandam 2024-2025 season.

The event featured two categories: an 8-kilometre Open Category from Fatt to Bassa Beach and a 5-kilometre Youth Category from Qada Village to Bassa Beach. The race attracted 285 participants, including local and international athletes.

Al Yazan al Shraiqi claimed victory in the Youth Category, followed by Abdulhakim al Shehi and Mohammed al Shehi. In the Open Category, Moroccan athletes Amin al Suwaidi and Abdelali al Bouazawi took first and second places, with Sudanese runner Nader Ismail finishing third.



The event also included workshops for local referees and engaging activities for children, emphasising community development and sports awareness.

Ahmed al Shehi highlighted the event's role in promoting Musandam as a destination for sports and tourism, while organisers praised the scenic routes and the event’s success in attracting diverse talent.

The championship concluded with participants applauding Musandam's seamless organisation and breathtaking natural beauty, solidifying its reputation as a premier sports and tourist destination. - ONA
